Happy Happy New Year - Calgary Maternity Newborn Baby Photograper

Long time no blog! December was a busy month finishing up Christmas orders and the poor blog didn't get much love, but I'm back to close out 2008 and share a few shots from my last couple of sessions this year.

And Next - The sweetest baby girl. She was so good for our session and is at that wonderful age of being able to sit up, but not quite able to get away so we ended up with a ton of great images. I had a hard time choosing which to share.

Sugar & Spice - Calgary Newborn Photographer

I know the blog has been a bit neglected this month but 'tis the season in photography land. Christmas sessions have wrapped up and I have just a couple of slots reserved specifically for newborn sessions in December. A reminder to all with outstanding orders - I need to receive them no later than November 30th to guarantee Christmas delivery.

Now, moving on to the good stuff. This little munchkin reminded me of that poem "Sugar & Spice and Everything Nice" That's definitely what this little girl was made of. Not a snip, snail or puppy dog tail in sight. Isn't she sweet? She was perfect for our shoot and allowed us a whole bunch of nice sleepy baby images. Fun Family Session

I hope this finds everyone having a great week. The snow and rain are a bit of a downer, but I guess I can't complain too much after such crazy beautiful weather last week.

Check out this fun family session. They scheduled an outdoor shoot, but the wind was blowing a bazillion miles a second that day so we ended up in the studio and I'm thinking it was meant to be after proofing the session. They are all naturals.

I have to start at the end of the shoot with an out-take just because I think it's funny. I am naming it "COME ON LADY ARE YOU DONE YET?". I always do my best to make sessions as casual and fun for kiddos as I can, but in reality they all get to a point of being "DONE" with the camera. I think this image captures that feeling well;-)


But really, in all fairness to this cute little girl - she did great and we got some super shots out of the deal.

A Sweet Brother & Sister

I know, I'm back again already. The blog never gets this much attention, but it's been a busy week for me getting all of my sessions proofed so everyone can get a sneak peek and get their galleries up online for holiday orders. Everyone near and far have a happy & safe Halloween, and for the Calgarians, let's keep our fingers crossed that we get the nice weather we are promised for a good night of trick or treating. Ash is going to be a cat & Ivy is going to be Snow White & I'm all set with a giant bowl of candy that I have managed to keep hidden from everyone. Now if I could only hide it from myself, but that's another post entirely. Have a great weekend!

Fish Creek and Singing Angels

Yup - I'm back already! Tis the season for pics and I have another great session to share from Fish Creek with an awesome family and two of cutest little boys.









And the best for last...Having a two year old run away from the camera isn't anything new, but it rarely ends like this.

For all the other photographers reading, this one is for you. You know the feeling of uploading images and that "YES!" you say to yourself when you see a shot not only turned out, but is even better than you expected? You know in movies when you hear that "AHHHHH"... like the hallelujah angels singing? That's this shot for me. I love the how the flare hit, the dramatic shadow, and how he is so little against the sunset. I know my ego sounds too huge for my britches, but what can I say? I love it that much and have already ordered it for the studio wall as a great big 24x30 canvas.

Beautiful Alberta Fall

It's a beautiful fall for 2008 in our fair city. I have had some great sessions capturing all of it's splendor. Check out a Fish Creek shoot with this beautiful mom and her two handsome, stylish boys. The day started out pretty cloudy and dark, but we got some great lighting when session time rolled around.









I just love this one - I was working on some solo shots of one of the boys and when we finished, I turned around and saw mom & big brother sharing a moment which I thought was so cool. I told little brother to hurry over and join them and love how it turned out.

Shameless Bragging

Two weeks ago I got to go to Michigan and visit my 8 month old nephew that I love so darn much. He is the sweetest little man ever! Of course I had my camera in his face a bunch of the time I was there so I have to blog a bragging post and show off one cute baby boy... of course I may be a little biased but isn't that an Auntie's right?

Miracle

Each and every newborn baby in this world is a miracle, however this precious little girl truly is in every sense of the word. It was only fitting that I was lucky enough to capture her starting out her life because she captured my heart the second I met her. She was an angel to photograph at 4 weeks of life. This is later than I would normally photograph a newborn, however she announced her presence in this world a bit earlier than expected so she still allowed us a whole bunch of wonderful cuddled up "brand new" looking images. Mommies, it was an honour to meet your family and my pleasure to spend time photographing your new little girl. Thanks so much for the awesome session - it made my whole week. A Retro Change Of Pace

Hope this finds everyone having a great week.

I'm usually cuddling up a newborn baby or chasing a two year old with my camera, but recently I had the opportunity for a totally different session. I had a request to do some glam shots with an old Hollywood flare. As much as I love love love photographing babies and kiddos, I had a blast with these beauties and it was a great change of pace.
